VACANCY #1 : Civils Infrastructure Engineer

Job Description

Coopers are currently recruiting a full time Civil Infrastructure Engineer to join their Roads & Sewers department in Chester. The role will be primarily focused on the design of roads and sewers for residential projects for some of the UKs biggest house builders.

The successful candidate will be an experienced engineer who will meet the following requirements:

  • Be fully competent with AutoCAD, PDS and Microdrainage software packages.
  • Be able to work on projects during all stages of design (from appraisals through to adoptions and construction).
  • Have an understanding of sewers for adoption 6th and 7th Edition and requirements of water and sewerage undertakers (mainly United Utilities and Welsh Water).
  • Have an understanding of LA highway requirements for road adoptions and Section 278 works.
  • Be able to produce Flood Risk Assessments and SUDS reports.
  • Have the ability to manage workload to meet required deadlines.

Knowledge of other general office software such as Outlook, Word and Excel would also be useful. Site/client visits are necessary so a full driving license is essential.

The successful applicant will work alongside the existing members of the team based at our Chester Business Park office, Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week.

VACANCY #2 : Principal Structural Engineer

Job Description

Coopers are currently recruiting a full time Principal Structural Engineer to head up their Structural Department at our office on Chester Business Park. The role will involve managing a mixed portfolio of new and refurbishment projects but will primarily be focused on the structural design of residential projects for some of the UKs biggest house builders. The work is a mixture of permanent works design and temporary works design so design office experience in both is highly desirable.

Candidates must be a Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer with at least 10 years’ experience within a UK consultancy environment. Candidates will be working closely with our engineers and technicians to prepare structural calculations and designs for our clients on a fast turnaround basis. Knowledge of the Eurocodes would be advantageous but not essential. MIStructE membership is preferable, although MICE CEng status engineers would also be considered dependant on technical ability and problem solving skills.

Site/client visits are necessary so a full driving license is essential. Strong communication skills are also a must for liaising with clients and other construction professionals throughout the design process. Knowledge of other general office software such as Outlook, Word & Excel would be useful. The successful applicant would join our team on the Chester Business Park, working in a modern open plan office Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week.
