VACANCY #1: Principal/Senior Structural Engineer
Job Description
Coopers is a thriving and family-owned company of civil, geotechnical and structural engineers specialising in design services to house builders and developers large and small in the north-west region.
With continued activity in the housing sector, we are looking to recruit an engineer and a senior engineer to strengthen our structures team of six. Relevant experience should include:
Mini-piling, ground improvement, traditional footings, retaining walls and raft foundations.
Knowledge of Building Regulations, NHBC and British Standards,
Experienced in the use of TEDDS and CADS software.
Conversant with typical low-rise construction detailing including waterproofing/gas membranes and precast flooring/stairs.
Element design in reinforced concrete, structural steel, load bearing masonry and timber.
Able to manage and co-ordinate a number of concurrent projects.
Knowledge of AutoCAD and previous design experience with national house builders an advantage.
Structural surveys, reports and condition surveys.
Commercial awareness is essential and experience of fee calculation is preferable.
This position will be office based, but also involve travel to sites within the region, for which, company transport is available. A valid UK driving license is essential.
A minimum of 3 years related experience is required for the engineer role.
A minimum of 5 years for the senior engineer role.
Assistance with chartership can also be provided for either ICE or IStructE.
The successful applicant will work alongside the existing members of the team based at our Chester Business Park office, Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week.

VACANCY #2: Graduate Civils Infrastructure Engineer
Job Description
Coopers are currently recruiting a full time Graduate Civil Infrastructure Engineer to join their Roads & Sewers department in Chester. The role will be primarily focused on the design of roads and sewers for residential projects for some of the UK's biggest house builders.
The successful candidate will work alongside four existing infrastructure team members to build on their design skills and software knowledge. Training will be provided but any experience with PDS, MicroDrainage and AutoCAD software would be advantageous. Knowledge of other general office software such as Outlook, Word and Excel would also be useful.
The successful applicant would join our team on the Chester Business Park, working in a modern open plan office, Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week.
Personal requirements
We are looking for an individual who is a hardworking, conscientious team player, who can successfully meet client deadlines and stay within budgets. Good communication is key for communicating well with clients and other team members.
