Foundation Selection and Design
Coopers provide robust typical foundation details within ground investigation reports where relevant. If a planning layout is not available, but the type of development is known, a Foundation Zone Plan may be produced. Where planning layouts are available with slab levels and a topographic survey, a Foundation Plan may be completed.
The Foundation Plan is a detailed assessment of the site with all plots being assessed on their four corners, and a depth to bearing strata calculated (via the intrusive data available). Affects due to external features such as trees, hedgerows and other buried features are also taken into account. This is an invaluable tool for site managers during the development programme.
Gas mitigation measures may be included within the foundation design and slab detail for the proposed structures.
Foundation and ground floor slab designs for house types/unit types are provided by our Structural Engineering Department. This service has been extensively utilised by many major housing developers such as Taylor Wimpey, Persimmon Homes, McInerney Homes, Gleeson Homes, Bellway Homes and Countryside Properties. Foundation designs frequently include rafts and piles with ground beams.
